NIGERIANS ATTACKED BY SOUTH AFRICANS IN A FRESH XENOPHOBIC ATTACK

Despite efforts by the federal government   of Nigeria and the government of South Africa to curb xenophobic attacks on Nigerians, a renewed attack has reportedly been launched. Channels TV reports that a new attack has been launched on Nigerians working as estate agents in Turffontein, South Africa. The timely intervention of the police however quelled the tension in the area. The Nigerian real estate agents complained that they were attacked by indigenes who alleged that the Nigerians were illegally acquiring houses. The Nigerians complained that the local residents accused them of acquiring houses illegally One of the estate agents however said the South Africans accusations were untrue as all business transactions done by the agents are legitimate and whatever benefits they received from their business were proceeds from their hard work. YAYA TOURE: ‘I WANT TO STAY AT MANCHESTER CITY

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has said that he wants to stay at the club beyond the end of his current deal, which expires this summer. Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau has appeared in a new video released on Friday, refuting recent attacks in Libya while threatening world leaders. According to the the 27-minute footage sent to PREMIUM TIMES by a journalist with known contact to Boko Haram, Mr. Shekau was seen thanking his followers. He also displayed identity cards, arms, ammunition and other equipment purportedly seized from the Cameroonian Army. Consequently, Shekau also ordered his fighters to remain steadfast, insisting that the sect will not back down until Sharia is established in Benin, Cameroon, Chad, Niger, Nigeria and Mali. The video comes three days after the sect released a video claiming to have killed some three men allegedly working for government.

HERDSMEN STRUCK IN EDO, KILL EX-LG BOSS, KIDNAP 15 OTHERS

A report by Leadership indicates that gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen struck along the busy Benin-Auchi-Okene Highway on Thursday, March 17 in Edo state. Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki The herdsmen killed the immediate past chairman of Etsako-east local government area in the state, Mr Suleiman Afegbua. They also kidnapped 15 travelers along the busy Benin-Auchi-Okene Highway according to the report. The Federal Government says it has deployed epidemiologists and vaccines to arrest the outbreak of a new a strain of Cerebro Spinal Meningitis (CSM) in parts of the country. The presidency under Muhammadu Buhari and Professor Yemi Osinbajo are poised to fight the new discovered meningitis The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole said this on Thursday in Abuja that the new strain, which is not common in Nigeria, was imported from Niger Republic. Adewole said that the new strain requires a different type of vaccine and a team of epidemiologists have been deployed to address the challenge. COURT ORDERS NBC TO WARN AGAINST COMBINING FANTA, SPRITE WITH VITAMIN C

A court has ordered the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to direct the Nigeria Bottling Company (NBC) Plc., who are the manufacturers of Fanta and Sprite to warn consumers of the danger of taking it with vitamin c. The Nation reports that Justice Adedayo Oyebanji, of the Lagos High Court gave this order following a suit brought by Justice Adedayo Oyebanji, of the Lagos High Court. Abiodun Onidare who is Fijabi’s lawyer narrated to the court that his client bought large quantities of different products from NBS for export to the UK but when they arrived at their destination, Fanta and Sprite failed UK Health Authorities’ sample test for human consumption, as they became poisonous when mixed with Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C).
